Bike Decorating Contest

We are bringing back the classic that started it all! When the Hometown Plainfield Irish Parade began 21 years ago in a small neighborhood on the east side, it all began with a bike parade. In honor of our humble roots, we are holding a bike decorating contest!

Meet at 11:30am. Winners are announced around 12:45pm, parade begins at 1:00pm.

*There will be prizes for winners so have fun with creativity and craft!

* Age categories are: kids, teens, and adults.

* You are encouraged to arrive with bikes already decorated, but you’re also welcome to ride undecorated.

* The contest and parade will be held in snow, rain, or shine, so plan any decorations and festive clothing accordingly.

* When the parade begins, All bike riders in the parade must wear a bike helmet.
Registered bikes are allowed to ride in the parade if they choose. You must stay in the group to which you are assigned and follow any direction given by parade officials.

* Tips for easy decorating: Irish-themed colors, tinsel, repurposing green/gold decorations from other holidays, bells/windchimes on handlebars.

* If you will drive to the parade, see the parade route map for parking locations. Be sure to factor in time to bike from there to our meeting point.

* Our meeting point will be at the Plainfield Central High School parking lot north of the football stadium.
