2016 Parade Princess

The Village Preservation Association is pleased to announce that Kaitlyn Robertson was selected as Parade Princess for the 2016 Plainfield Hometown Irish Parade.

Kaitlyn is proud to represent her own hometown of Plainfield this year in the parade. In fact, she has been participating in the Plainfield Hometown Irish Parade with Keigher Academy of Irish Dance every year since she began Irish dancing 7 years ago.

Over the years, Kaitlyn has grown to love and appreciate her Irish heritage through her Irish dance classes, shows, and competitions. Then, last year she travelled to Ireland, a dream vacation she’d been asking to take since she was in kindergarten! Ask her about her trip and the friend she made at the sweater shop in Galway or the shop owner Mick she met in Kinsale, “as some of her best stories of her trip are of the locals she spent time talking to”

Kaitlyn is also active in her school and her community. She maintains an A average as an honors student at Plainfield North High School. She is a member of Key Club, a member of the Plainfield Juniorettes, attends classes at Holy Spirit Catholic Community, and holds down a regular babysitting job. She has participated in such activities as making blankets for Project Linus, volunteering at a food pantry, making and delivering goodie bags for children at local shelters, and shopping for local families at the holidays. One of her favorite days each year is helping out at the Shop with a Cop event. This summer, Kaitlyn hopes to volunteer at a local hospital to gain experience for a future career in the medical field.
